Fall 2017 Art Classes for K-2nd Grades
Mixed Media Masterpieces ~ Tuesdays, 9/5-9/26, 6:00-7:30 pm, $85. Experiment with a variety of art materials including paper, paints, wire and more! Art work will range from realistic to abstract, as the focus will be on learning how to work with the provided materials.
Clay Creations ~ Wednesdays, 10/4-10/25, 6:00-7:30 pm, $90. Students will learn the basics of creating works of art from clay using pinch pots, slabs and coils while creating both realistic and abstract pieces.
Playing with Paint ~ Tuesdays, 11/7-11/28, 6:00-7:30 pm, $85. In this class, students will play with color and experiment with mixing colors to create secondary colors, as well as tints and shades. Basic color theory will be learned as students will use watercolor tempera and acrylic paint.
Parent/Child Wheel Throwing ~ Wednesdays, 12/6-12/20, 4:30-6:00 pm, $90. Are you ready to get your hands dirty? Patience and a high tolerance for messy hands is a must for learning this fun way to create pottery. Students will learn the basic steps for creating bowls and cups on the pottery wheel.
SATURDAY WORKSHOPS ~ We offer Saturday morning kids' workshops, 9:30-11:00 AM, with a different theme each Saturday. Dates and descriptions are listed below. Cost for each workshop: $20
Sept 9 ~ Creatures in Clay - Through the use of pinch pots, coils and slab building, create creatures, both from nature and their imaginations
Sept 16 ~ Terrific Treehouses - Using a variety of materials, create a collage depicting your dream tree house!
Sept 23 ~ Lego Mania - Celebrate the opening of the new Lego Ninjago movie by learning how to draw realistic Lego figures. After completing your drawing, participate in a Lego building challenge and keep your creation!
Sept 30 ~ Famous Fidos - Create a painting of your favorite furry friend in Pop Art style!
Oct 7 ~ Pony Up - Make glitter slime and tie dye a rainbow t-shirt in celebration of the latest My Little Pony movie!
Oct 14 ~ Dad and Me Doodle Bots - Create a motorized contraption made of everyday objects, a small motor, and simple circuit that produces artwork by leaving a trail of colorful marks.
Oct 21 ~ Owltastic! - Using chalk pastels and sharpies, learn how to create a realistic barn owl!
Oct 28 ~ Pumpkins with Pizazz - Create a pumpkin that is sure to get everyone’s attention! A variety of materials will be on hand for students to choose their own unique decorations!
Nov 4 ~ Fantastic Fall Leaves - Celebrate the beautiful colors of fall by creating a mixed media piece inspired by the season!
Nov 11 ~ Wheel Throwing - Are you ready to get messy? Try your hand at the potter’s wheel and learn how to create a bowl!
Nov 18 ~ Mom and Me Gami-Bots - Learn how to take your origami to the next level. Create origami creatures and then add a motor to make them move!
Dec 2 ~ Artsy Ornaments - A variety of materials will be on hand for students to create multiple ornaments, ready for hanging!
Dec 9 ~ Paper Poinsettias - Add some color to your home with pointsettias that will never turn brown! Students will use a variety of techniques to create their piece.
Dec 16 ~ Droid Day – If you were going to build your own personal droid, what would it look like? What would it be capable of? Celebrate the latest Star Wars movie with the creation of your own droid using recycled materials.
