Our adult classes are designed to meet the needs of the students where they are  ~ from beginner to advanced, our instructors tailor the classes to each participant and their specific goals, while teaching them a variety of skills and techniques.

Arts as HealingArts As Healing Foundation is a St. Louis-based non-profit organization that offers cancer patients and their caregivers an opportunity for creative expression and fulfillment by providing free art lessons and a variety of other artistic and educational activities. Pottery with Phyllis Schulte ~ This pottery class will explore both hand building and wheel throwing techniques for beginners through advanced. Instructors will determine where you are in the learning process and help guide you through projects of your choice. $185

 Pottery with Heather Woodson ~ This pottery class will explore both hand building and wheel throwing techniques for beginners through advanced. Instructors will determine where you are in the learning process and help guide you through projects of your choice. $185  Class dates listed:

Upcycled Sweaters with Marianne Baer ~ Repurpose vintage, felted wool to make your very own unique sweater! Wednesdays, April 5 - April 26, 1:00 - 3:00 PM, $125                         

 

 Creating Texture with Watercolors with Linda Wilmes ~ Using various items, color will be lifted, absorbed and moved. Finally, with a layer of transparent washes to intensify a given area, students will paint textures, including peeling paint, rust, and other items in relief. A variety of applications will be used, and the instructor will demonstrate all applications. This class is for the beginner to intermediate watercolorist or acrylic painter.  Wednesdays, Mar 22 - Apr 12, 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM $125

 

Drawing Fundamentals with James Davania ~ This course will explore drawing through a variety of methods, both traditional and contemporary. Emphasis will be placed on the analysis of space and form, as well as familiarization with and control of drawing material. We will utilize drawing techniques to create line, perspective, shading and texture. Tuesdays, Apr 11 - May 16, 6:30 - 8:30 PM $150

Plein Air Painting with Linda Wilmes ~ In this class, we will begin  with the supplies needed, including oil paint, to make the process more efficient and comfortable to the artist, to the actual selection of subject through the painting process. This class is for the beginner to intermediate artist.  The first class will meet at Art Unleashed, with the following classes to meet at Creve Coeur Park. Light and Movement with Watercolors with Linda Wilmes ~ Learn the how to create realistic lighting throughout your watercolor. Friday, February 24, 6:30 - 9:00 PM, $35

 

 

Drawing with Pastels with Micah Hummel - O’Keefe ~ Learn basic techniques for drawing with pastels, while studying from the masters. Participants will discuss the work of Georgia O'Keefe and use her abstract flower paintings as inspiration. Instructor will teach techniques in a step-by-step manner and participants will leave with a completed flower. Friday, Feb 24, 6:30 - 8:30 PM, $35

Fingerless Gloves or Leg Warmers with Marianne Baer ~ Handsew fingerless gloves or leg warmers out of repurposed, felted wool and cashmere. Friday, Feb  24, 6:00 - 9:00 PM, $40

 

 

Henna Designs ~ Learn the art of henna and create henna designs on your hands and arms! Henna designs last approximately 1 - 2 weeks after application. Friday, Mar 3, 6:30 - 8:30 PM,  $25

 

 

 

Acrylic in Impasto with Linda Wilmes ~ This method is a rather quick and intuitive painting method, resulting in a very interesting and dramatic painting. Super rich color and strong contrast of value, will be used as the instructor demonstrates each area of the painting. Trivets and Bracelets with Marianne Baer ~ Handsew trivets and bracelets out of repurposed, felted wool and cashmere. Friday, March 10, 6:00 - 9:00 PM, $40

 

 

Deco Mesh Wreaths ~ In this workshop, you will learn how to make a wreath using mesh and other add ons. Each participant will leave with a spring time wreath ready for hanging! Wednesday, Mar 29, 6:30 - 8:30 PM, $40

Creating a Wall or Ceiling Mural with Linda Wilmes ~ From the start of measuring and proportioning a subject to a given area, to the final rendering, students will discover how to transform an area in home or business, to add atmosphere. This class is for the beginner.  Friday, Apr 7, 6:30 - 9:00 PM, $35

Doodling ~ Need a creative release? Come and doodle the night away! Various techniques and inspiration will be discussed throughout the evening as students design a unique piece.  Wednesday, April 26, 6:30 - 8:30 PM, $30



Basic Drawing using Sighting Technique with Linda Wilmes ~ Using the foolproof sighting method, students will discover drawing any object in a simplified way, resulting in an accurate and appealing finished drawing. Topics covered will include value, composition, focal point, along with perspective. For the beginning artist and the intermediate, too. All techniques will be demonstrated by the instructor. Painting an Impressionist Landscape with Linda Wilmes ~ With a great attraction to the impressionist painters and techniques, a landscape will be painted, by layering colors and placing the effective color combinations side by side to present to the viewer a greater combination of colors.
