The 6th through 8th Grade classes are designed to cultivate creativity, encourage artistic growth and improve the ability to express themselves in the visual arts, while continuing to build on skills previously acquired.                                                                            

 

 

2017 WINTER/SPRING CLASS SCHEDULE

Illustrating Stories for 4th - 8th graders ~  Students will use basic drawing techniques to learn how to tell a story through pictures. While focusing on composition and design, students will explore how to communicate an idea through an illustration. Students will work with stories written by other students as part of the Grannie Annie project.  At the end of the course, students will have the opportunity to enter their illustration to be considered for publication in the Grannie Annie Family Stories Celebration, Volume 12. Tuesdays, Feb 21 - Apr 4, 6:00 - 7:30 PM, $125  (no class week of Mar 13-17)

Anime/Manga ~ Manga is the Japanese word for comics and printed cartoons. Anime is a style of Japanese film and television animations. In this class, students will learn basic techniques for learning how to create characters in this specific, stylized manner. Mondays, April 10 - May 15, 5:00 - 6:30 PM, $125

Imagination Paintings ~  Taking inspiration from the surrealism movement, students will tap into their imagination to create fantastical paintings. Tuesdays, Apr 11 - May 16, 5:00 - 6:30 PM, $125
