2018 Spring Art Classes and Workshops for 6th-8th Grades
Printmaking 101 (6th – 12th Grades) – Thursdays, February 8 – March 1, 7:00 – 8:30 PM, $100. After a brief history of the printmaking process, participants will develop individual designs based on basic elements and principles of art. Using the linoleum cutting process, students will create a design, transfer and carve into the linoleum and then create multiple prints.
Illustrating Stories (4th - 8th grades) ~ Mondays, March 5 - 26, 6:00 – 7:30 PM, $90. Students will use basic drawing techniques to learn how to tell a story through pictures. While focusing on composition and design, students will explore how to communicate an idea through an illustration. Students will work with stories written by other students as part of the Grannie Annie project. At the end of the course, students will have the opportunity to enter their illustration to be considered for publication in the Grannie Annie Family Stories Celebration, Volume 13.
Mosaics – Tuesdays, April 3 – 24, 6:00 – 7:30 PM, $100. Learn the basic techniques, tools and materials used to create colorful mosaics and create a unique stepping stone, mirror and more using glass and clay tiles.
Wheel Throwing – Thursdays, May 3 – 24, 7:00 – 8:30 PM, $100. Are you ready to get your hands dirty? Patience and a high tolerance for messy hands is a must for learning this fun way to create pottery. Students will learn the basic steps for creating bowls and cups on the pottery wheel.

Abstract Paintings – April 13, 7:00 – 8:30 PM
Encaustics – May 11, 7:00 – 8:30 PM. Learn the art of painting with wax in this introductory workshop! Learn and practice basic techniques for creating encaustics!
